Welcome to my blog! I’m Mabel Walton, the marketing manager at The Talent Hackers. We are a B2B talent acquisition support company based in Worcestershire that supports ambitious growth companies throughout the Midlands, part of the new wave of disruption in hiring.
Welcome back! I hope you all had a fantastic festive break, I certainly did spending lots of quality time with my family. Ready for the year ahead, its lovely coming back to a job that I enjoy.
In December Talent Hacker CEO Peter Chatterley & I started to discuss what the next marketing campaign would look like, LinkedIn Ads or Google PPC…we decided on LinkedIn Advertising. Within marketing, lack of historical data to make informed decisions can be a hindering factor, sometimes the approach is trial & amendment!
As there is only myself on the marketing team, we employed the help of digital marketing agency, Platform 81 based in the West Midlands. As I am a recent graduate, using an external company enables me to better understand how to track Linkedin campaign metrics in the future. I created the campaign graphic using Canva, along with the wording of the promoted ad. Last year Peter & I worked hard on defining what our ideal client profile looks like; to ensure we utilised this within the campaign, I undertook primary research into members skills on Linkedin profiles. Members skills are a setting feature on linkedin advertising that allows you to define who you want to target based on their ‘skills’. Skills included business planning, business development, strategic partnerships and entrepreneurship.
Gaining valuable experience of each marketing channel is one of the many benefits of being a graduate in an sme company. I wouldn’t necessarily have had this opportunity, if I had worked for a larger scale company, where I would have specialised in a specific area i.e. email marketing or social media. Referring back to a previous blog, university is academically based, real life experience & applying that theoretical knowledge is a whole new ball game; experiencing different marketing channels is a great way to understand how to apply theory.
In the first week back to work I had my 6 month review with Peter. It was great to have time allocated to goal setting & what I would like to achieve in 2022, along with a confidence boost!
Next month we prepare for the year ahead entering awards, booking events & focusing on conversion.
I’d love to chat to you about marketing, startups & scaleups, being a graduate & more, please connect with me on linkedin @mabelwalton
